Hide or soften selected image areas
Use this tool to soften a background, obscure a face or plate, pixelate a detail, or cover visible information before sharing a screenshot or photo. Draw multiple rectangles on the preview, adjust the effect, and export at the original pixel dimensions.
How to blur part of an image
- Select a JPG, PNG or WebP image.
- Choose Blur, Pixelate or Black box and set the strength when available.
- Drag a rectangle over every area you want to process. Use Undo last or Clear all to correct the selection.
- Apply the effect, inspect the result carefully and download the new image.
Blur, pixelate or cover?
Blur softens details and suits visual effects or low-risk concealment. Pixelation replaces an area with larger color blocks. Neither should be treated as guaranteed redaction because shapes or information may remain recognizable. A solid black box is the safer choice for account numbers, addresses or other sensitive text, but you must still inspect the exported pixels before sharing.
Full image blur
Select Apply to whole image when you want a uniform soft-focus effect rather than a local edit. Blur strength is measured against the original-resolution pixels, so a larger image may need a higher value than a small thumbnail.
Private browser processing
The image is decoded, edited and exported locally in your browser; FigureOwl does not receive the file. Supported images are limited to 25 MB and 40 megapixels. Keep the original separately and do not assume that editing one copy removes the information from other copies or cloud backups.
