Correct an image's orientation
Use the image rotator when a photo appears sideways, a scanned page is upside down, or a graphic needs to face the other direction. Quarter-turn controls make 90°, 180° and 270° rotations precise, while horizontal and vertical flip controls create a mirror image.
How to rotate or flip an image
- Select a JPG, PNG or WebP image.
- Rotate left or right in 90-degree steps, or flip the image horizontally or vertically.
- Check the live preview and choose an output format and quality.
- Apply the change, review the exported preview and download the new file.
Rotation versus flipping
Rotation turns the whole image around its center. A horizontal flip swaps left and right; a vertical flip swaps top and bottom. If text appears backward, undo the mirror operation rather than rotating the image. The Reset orientation control returns every transform to its starting state.
Dimensions, formats and quality
A 90° or 270° turn swaps the output width and height. A 180° turn keeps them unchanged. JPG is widely compatible but does not preserve transparency, so transparent pixels use a white background. PNG preserves transparency, while WebP can combine transparency with compact web delivery. JPG and WebP are re-encoded at the quality you select.
Private browser processing
The browser decodes, transforms and exports the image locally; FigureOwl does not receive the selected file. Supported images can be up to 25 MB and 40 megapixels. Keep your original until you have reviewed the downloaded result.
