Convert MOV to MP4 Online

Turn a MOV video into compatible MP4, web-ready WebM or MP3 audio without uploading the file to a server.

Choose a MOV video

Your video stays on this device. Conversion runs inside your browser and the file is never uploaded to FigureOwl.

Video preview

Some browsers cannot preview the original MOV codec even when conversion will work. A blank original preview does not necessarily mean the file is invalid.

Convert MOV to MP4 without uploading your video

Select a MOV file, choose MP4 and set the quality. FigureOwl decodes and converts the video inside your browser, then gives you a local download. The source video and converted file are not sent to FigureOwl.

Choose MP4, WebM or MP3

MP4 uses H.264 video, AAC audio and a web-friendly pixel format for broad playback compatibility. WebM uses VP9 video and Opus audio for websites and compatible browsers. MP3 extracts the first audio track when you only need the sound.

Pick the right quality

High quality retains more visual detail but usually creates a larger file. Balanced is suitable for most sharing and website use. Smaller file applies stronger compression. Output size depends on the source codec, resolution, motion, duration and audio.

Why a MOV file may not preview

MOV is a container that can hold several video and audio codecs. Your browser may not play the original codec even when the converter can decode it. Conversely, an unusual professional-camera codec may not be supported by the browser conversion engine. If conversion fails, desktop video software may be required.

Browser conversion limits

Video conversion is CPU- and memory-intensive. This tool accepts one MOV file up to 200 MB and works best on a laptop or desktop with the tab kept open. It loads an approximately 32 MB WebAssembly conversion engine on first use. Large, long or high-resolution videos may take longer than their playing time, especially on phones.

Private by design

The conversion engine, source file and output stay in browser memory on your device. Closing or refreshing the tab clears the temporary working data. FigureOwl does not store the video, but your browser and device still need enough free memory to complete the job.

Frequently asked questions

No. The MOV file and converted output stay in your browser memory and are not sent to FigureOwl.

MP4 output uses H.264 video, AAC audio and the yuv420p pixel format for broad compatibility.

Yes. Choose MP3 audio to extract the first audio track from the MOV file.

Video transcoding is intensive and this tool runs locally in a single browser worker. Duration depends on the video and your device.

MOV can contain codecs that a browser cannot play. Conversion may still work because the browser conversion engine supports additional codecs.

The practical limit is 200 MB per MOV file to reduce browser memory failures. Desktop conversion software is better for larger files.
