Trim PDF margins without reducing quality
Choose the amount to remove from the top, right, bottom and left edges. The live preview shows the visible area that will remain. Apply one crop to every page or enter a custom range such as 1-3, 5.
The tool changes each selected page's PDF crop box rather than converting the page to an image. Text stays selectable, vector graphics stay sharp and embedded images are not recompressed.
Use millimeters, inches or points
Enter margins in the unit that matches your workflow. Millimeters are convenient for international print documents, inches suit US page layouts, and PDF points provide fine control. One inch equals 72 PDF points. Changing the unit converts the current values so the physical crop remains the same.
Crop all pages or selected pages
Use All pages when a scanner or export created the same border throughout a document. Use Selected pages when only a cover, appendix or particular section needs adjustment. Review pages with the arrow controls because one margin setting can affect pages differently when their sizes or layouts vary.
Rotated pages are handled by their displayed edges
Top, right, bottom and left follow the orientation shown in the preview. FigureOwl maps those displayed edges back to the PDF page coordinates when a page uses 90-, 180- or 270-degree rotation metadata.
Cropping hides content; it does not erase it
A PDF crop box tells compatible viewers and printers which part of a page to display. Material outside that box can remain inside the file and may be recovered by changing the page boundary or inspecting the document. Never use cropping as redaction or as a way to remove confidential information.
Cropping also does not normally make a file substantially smaller. Use Compress PDF for image-heavy files, and use a proper redaction workflow when content must be permanently removed. Rewriting a PDF can invalidate an existing digital signature, so keep the original signed document.
Private browser-local cropping
The selected file, preview and output are processed in your browser. FigureOwl does not receive or store the PDF. The tool accepts one file up to 100 MB and 200 pages; password-protected or damaged files may require desktop PDF software.
