Reduce image file size without an upload
FigureOwl recompresses your image on your own device. For photographs, WebP or JPG at 75–85% quality usually gives a useful balance between visual detail and file size. PNG is best when transparency or crisp interface graphics matter, but it may not become smaller after browser re-encoding.
How to compress an image
- Select a JPG, PNG or WebP file.
- Choose JPG, PNG or WebP and adjust quality for a lossy format.
- Compress, inspect the preview and file size, then download.
Choose the right format
Use JPG for widely compatible photos, WebP for smaller modern web images, and PNG for logos, screenshots and transparency. Converting transparency to JPG places the image on a white background. Browser canvas export creates a new file and normally removes camera metadata such as EXIF and GPS.
Practical limits
The tool accepts one image up to 25 MB and 40 megapixels. Animated images are not preserved. Because compression happens locally, speed depends on your browser and device memory.
